By default, Forecast Pro will use expert selection, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) engine, to automatically select the appropriate forecasting method. In this case, the item will not have a forecasting modifier. If an item on the Navigator does have a modifier that specifies a statistical model to be used instead of Expert Selection, when you click the Expert Selection icon on the Forecasting tab or select Forecasting>Expert Selection on the Navigator’s context menu, the forecasting modifier(s) will be removed, and Forecast Pro will use expert selection to automatically select the appropriate forecasting method.
On The Performance Tab of the Options dialog, you can specify methodologies that expert selection should not consider. These methodologies include: ARIMA, (Box-Jenkins), seasonal simplification, the NA-CL model and machine learning. Machine learning takes considerable computing resources and disabling it in expert selection can significantly speed up forecasting times.
